Maypole Dance Workshop

Maypole Dance Workshop

Around since the mid-14th century, May Pole dancing is traditionally associated with May Day celebrations.

Normally celebrating the arrival of spring, children were selected as May Day Queens and Kings and the festivities were celebrated with music, feasting and dancing around a May Pole.

Our May Pole dance workshop aims to bring this celebration to school, complete with a full May Pole! Children will be able to envisage themselves as part of historic days or celebrate the modern May Day.

The experience will be one they won’t forget. May Pole dancing pairs perfectly with our Morris Dance workshops to celebrate traditional English culture.

A typical Dance Workshop would consist of six sessions throughout the day, which culminate in an engaging performance at the end allowing children to demonstrate the exciting new skills they have learnt.
