Join schools and communities across the Commonwealth in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee marks the longest rule of any British monarch in history and celebrates 70 years of service. Starting from 6th February and culminating in a 4 day bank holiday weekend 2nd to 5th June, celebrations of the Queen’s life and reign have already begun!
There are many celebrations taking place across the UK such as the Big Jubilee Lunch and Jubilee Pageant in London. You could choose to host your own Big Jubilee Lunch alongside your local communities celebrating friendship, food and fun which could be accompanied by any one of our workshops as a celebration of this huge milestone. You could also host your own Jubilee Pageant which aims to tell the story of 70 years through various art forms. Mimic the official Jubilee Pageant with celebrations of music, dance or circus. Perhaps you are taking part in the Green Canopy project and would like to celebrate with a commemorative mosaic plaque made by your children to cherish forever.
An event as significant as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee deserves to be celebrated particularly so in the light of restrictions placed upon our schools and communities by the Covid 19 pandemic. Celebrate significant decades throughout the Queen’s reign with our bespoke Queen’s Jubilee dance workshop including styles from the 50s all the way through to present day. Take your children through the decades in a dance time machine, culminating in a wonderful performance at the end of the day in celebration of the Queen’s jubilee.
Another way to celebrate the best of our country’s culture and history is one of our Morris Dance workshops which celebrate traditional English folk dance and culture. These workshops are a wonderful way to inspire the children and are absolutely perfect for events during the summer months as well as throughout the year.
Why not take your children on a tour of the Commonwealth countries as part of our International Dance workshop? Each class can choose a different country and represent their chosen country with a dance that they have learnt. Ending the day with a performance from all of your children representing various countries would be an amazing way to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. If you were planning on creating a truly memorable, meaningful and lasting piece to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee then you need look no further than our Mosaic workshop. We work with you on your mosaic project, creating a beautiful piece of art ready to be hung in pride of place in your school for many years to come. The children collaboratively work on a 1×1 metre piece throughout the course of the project. To us, there is no better way to mark a special moment in history!
