Chinese Music Workshop

Chinese Music Workshop

Traditional Chinese music is famous for its gentle and elegant sounds and is extremely important within the Chinese culture. Although steeped in tradition, Chinese music has taken on a more contemporary form and has been used recently in many famous Kung Fu movies.

In the Chinese Music Workshop, traditional Chinese instruments are introduced through a brief solo demonstration and children are then given the opportunity to play these instruments in a hands-on learning experience.

Many of the instruments used within the Chinese Music Workshop produce a unique sound and children often get a great deal of enjoyment when experimenting with the different instruments.

The Erhu, for example, is a two-stringed instrument similar to a violin that uses a python skin around the resonator and the Guzheng, is a twenty-one stringed instrument, which resembles a harp.

Not only will children get to try their hand at these weird and wonderful instruments they will also learn to sing some simple Chinese songs, making the Chinese Music Workshop the perfect choice for a fun-filled and interactive day.

A typical Chinese Music Workshop consists of six sessions throughout the day, which culminate in an engaging performance at the end allowing children to demonstrate the exciting new skills they have learnt.
